CABLEVISION, JETS IN CASH BLITZ

By KENNETH LOVETT

July 20, 2005 -- ALBANY — On top of the massive amounts of money spent on lobbying over the failed West Side stadium, Cablevision and the Jets pumped out $70,000 in last-minute campaign contributions, newly released records show.

According to the latest state campaign-finance filings, Cablevision — which successfully beat back the stadium sought by Mayor Bloomberg and the Jets — donated a total of $58,300 between January and July.

The money went to several state senators and assemblymen, as well as to the Assembly and Senate Democratic and Republican campaign committees.

Jet owner Woody Johnson donated $10,250 to various campaign committees, according to the filings.

The new donations are on top of the quarter-million dollars in campaign donations The Post reported the two sides combined to make as the stadium battle heated up.
